Available to: College Freshmen & Sophomores

Award Amount: $1,000

The SkillPointe Quarterly Scholarship is available to students who are at least 17 years old. To be eligible for this award, you must be pursuing technical/vocational training in construction, healthcare, energy, manufacturing, transportation, or a related field.

Scholarships for Skilled Careers

AWARD
One (1) $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a South Kitsap High School graduating senior in the Class of 2027 for continuing education at a college, university, community college, trade school, or professional-technical program located within Washington State.
PURPOSE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship recognizes a student who has made a meaningful effort to help others and strengthen their community. The committee is interested not simply in the number of activities listed, but in the applicant’s commitment, initiative, character, and positive impact on other people.

SELECTION CRITERIA
• Community involvement and service: A sustained or meaningful record of volunteering, service, school involvement, neighborhood involvement, caregiving, mentoring, employment, or other efforts that benefit others.
• Helping others / positive impact: Specific examples showing how the applicant has supported, encouraged, served, or improved the lives of other people or the community.
• Initiative, character, and leadership: Willingness to step up, take responsibility, show compassion, solve problems, or lead by example. Formal titles are not required.
• Future plans and continued service: Educational or career goals and how the applicant hopes to continue contributing to others or the community in the future.
• Financial need: Financial circumstances may be considered as part of the overall application, but community contribution and service are central to the award.

Open to students in grades 9–12, the VFW’s annual Voice of Democracy competition invites students to write and record a 3–5 minute audio essay on this year’s theme: “What a Veteran Taught Me About America.” Students can compete for scholarships and awards at the local, district, state, and national levels, with a $35,000 national grand prize!

The Pat and John Read Pathfinder Scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate unwavering resolve, a strong work ethic, and a clear sense of purpose. These students show persistent drive and curiosity, paired with resilience and focus as they work toward their goals. The Read Scholarship award is $5,000.00 for the first year.

Recipients may apply to renew the scholarship annually for years two, three and four. This scholarship reflects the donor’s heartfelt belief that through hard work, determination, and disciplined saving; they were able to build a successful career and meaningful life.

Applicants are encouraged to recognize that this scholarship reflects the results of the donor's hard work and perseverance, and to carry that same spirit of determination into building a successful educational journey and career -always with a mindset of paying it forward.

This scholarship is not based on financial need. Preference is given to students who will pursue in-person post high school educational programs (ie. college, university or trade school.) Online college, university or trade schools do not qualify for the scholarships
award distributions.

USMC Brochure for Students

The WHVACR Scholarship is available to female students enrolled in a college or trade school program that prepares them to enter the HVACR industry. To be eligible for this award, you must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Qualifications:
Scholarship A) - Technical College or Trade School

• Open to females currently enrolled in a college or trade school preparing them to enter into the HVACR industry.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater
• Completed Application & Essay. Minimum of 500 words answering questions below

Scholarship B) - Bachelor's Degree Program at Four Year College

• Open to females currently enrolled in a college or trade school preparing them to enter into the HVACR industry through a relating degree in a 4 year college.
• GPA of 3.0 or greater.
• Completed Application & Essay. Minimum of 500 words answering questions below.
